Thai String Dolls Tutorial

Originating from Thailand, Thai string dolls are handcrafted toys made from one continuous cotton string. Colorful, impish and oh-so-cute, these little guys make the perfect Halloween DIY project for teens. The original Thai string dolls are quite challenging to make (lots of pins and potential unraveling), so I adapted this project into a teen and tween friendly tutorial that captures the look without the headache. All you need to get started is embroidery thread, pipe cleaners, glue, scissors, and sequins or beads.

The best part of making string dolls is that you can make virtually any little creature you want, be it from your imagination or one of your favorite characters. Teens will also have an absolute ball dressing up their little string doll. Small details really make these guys unique, so it's a great way to utilize all your left over beads, buttons, felt and other small objects.

You can make virtually any character!

Sorry I didn't notice sooner, I was looking around yahoo answers and ended up on your site. Once again Thanks! I might try embroidery floss one day....my mom didn't think it would work out too well, so I never tried it. I might as well now :D
